Peanut blossoms cookies were a winner in the Pillsbury bake off contest in 1957, the year I was born. We are both 66 years old!

This was so dry – I had to add some water because I had a bowl full of crumbly peanut butter flavored cake mix. Every ball of sough required lots of kneading. Maybe amend the recipe to use oil instead of butter, or add some water? They taste good, but the recipe as written just doesn’t come together to form the dough needed to make the cookies.

I thought I had missed something in the recipe and went back to read a second time as the dough was so dry and it took almost 10 minutes to incorporate and I finished off kneading it and not using my mixer. The cookies are ok, but think the next time I make will go back to my full ingredient recipe and not use the cake mix. I had very soft butter as it had been left out all night and good peanut butter. If I ever make again will probably add another egg to the mixture.
