Have you ever been to Crumbl? If you’re not familiar with Crumbl, it’s a gourmet cookie shop that makes huge, delicious cookies in all kinds of amazing flavors.

COPYCAT CRUMBL GOLDEN OREO COOKIES

Copycat Crumbl Golden Oreo Cookies are made by crushing Golden Oreos into fine crumbs and mixing them with several other basic cookie ingredients (flour, sugar, eggs, vanilla, etc.). The cookies are shaped into balls and chilled overnight. Once the cookies are baked and cooled, pipe a delicious cream cheese frosting on top of the cookies before sprinkling more Golden Oreo crumbs on top.

TIPS FOR MAKING THE BEST COOKIES

Make sure you use softened butter – DON’T melt it! One of the most common errors in cookie making is using butter that is either cold and hard, or using butter that is too warm and melted. If you have time, just leave butter out on the counter for about 1-2 hours before making your cookies. If you are like me and don’t plan your cookie cravings that far in advance, just place the butter in your microwave and soften in 5-second intervals, being very careful to pull it out before it melts. I like to use the defrost setting on my microwave to soften butter- I don’t know the technical reasons behind it, but it seems to soften the butter more evenly and takes a little bit longer so I’m less likely to start melting it!

Most cookie recipes require that you mix the dry ingredients separately before adding the wet ingredients. This is an important step!

Spend a little extra time when you mix the butter and sugars. Creaming them together for 2-3 minutes will improve the consistency of your cookies.

Preheat the oven. This will help your cookies turn out right every time!

Use parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Doing this will make it easier to remove the cookies from your cookie sheet so that you don’t have to scrape them off the pan. They will just slide right off in perfect shape!

Make sure not to overbake your cookies. They may not even look done on the tops, but if the bottoms start to brown, I take mine out and they are perfect!

Ingredients in Copycat Crumbl Golden Oreo Cookies

Golden Oreos – You will need 28 Golden Oreo cookies to crush into fine crumbs. Leave the filling in the middle when you crush them up – that’s the good stuff!

Flour – All-purpose flour works best.

Baking powder – This is the leavening agent in the cookies. For best results, make sure the baking powder isn’t old or expired.

Salt – A little bit of salt helps all of the other flavors to pop.

Butter – You will need 1 1/2 cups (3 sticks) of softened butter. For best results, use real butter.

Sugar – You can’t make cookies without sugar! These cookies only require granulated sugar, so you won’t need any brown sugar for these cookies.

Eggs – Three large eggs will bind all of the other ingredients together.

Vanilla extract – Make sure to add a full tablespoon of vanilla! The higher the qulaity of the vanilla, the better.

FROSTING

Butter – You will need another cup (2 sticks) of butter for the frosting. Make sure the butter is softened to room temperature before mixing with the other ingredients.

Cream cheese – Cream cheese makes this frosting absolutely delicious. Make sure the cream cheese is softened before mixing with the other ingredients.

Powdered sugar – Powdered sugar will make the frosting sweet and creamy.

Cream – Just a little bit of cream will thin out the frosting, while keeping it rich.

Vanilla extract – A little bit of vanilla adds the perfect amount of flavor to the frosting. Again, the higher the quality of the vanilla, the better.

How to make Copycat Crumbl Golden Oreo Cookies

Line a sheet tray with parchment paper and set aside.

MAKE THE COOKIE DOUGH

<img decoding="async" width="1200" height="1000" src="https://familycookierecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Copycat-Crumbl-Golden-Oreo-Cookies-45.jpg" alt="Using food processor to crush Golden Oreo cookies.

Place the Oreos into a food processor and process until they form fine crumbs.

In a large bowl, stir together 2 & ½ cups of the Oreo crumbs (save the rest for garnish), the flour, baking powder, and salt, and set aside.

<img decoding="async" width="1200" height="1200" src="https://familycookierecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Copycat-Crumbl-Golden-Oreo-Cookies-46.jpg" alt="Creaming butter and sugar and making cookie dough.

Use an electric mixer or stand mixer to cream the butter and sugar together for 3 minutes.

Add the eggs and vanilla and mix for another 2-3 minutes.

Add the flour mixture and mix just until combined.

CHILL THE DOUGH

<img decoding="async" width="1200" height="1658" src="https://familycookierecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Copycat-Crumbl-Golden-Oreo-Cookies-47.jpg" alt="Dividing cookie dough into 12 sections.

Portion the cookie dough into 12 portions and form into a ball, the dough will be very sticky, do your best. Place on the prepared sheet tray.

Cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge overnight. Tip: It helps if you spray the plastic wrap with non-stick spray before covering the cookie dough.

BAKE THE COOKIES

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line sheet trays with parchment paper and set aside.

Try and roll the cookie dough balls between your hands to smooth it out. Place on the sheet trays about 6 inches apart.

Bake for 15-17 minutes until puffed, and they appear dry on the tops. Allow to cool for 10 minutes on the sheet tray and then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

FROST THE COOKIES

<img decoding="async" width="1200" height="1200" src="https://familycookierecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Copycat-Crumbl-Golden-Oreo-Cookies-48.jpg" alt="Making cream cheese frosting.

While the cookies cool, make the frosting by placing the butter and cream cheese into the body of a stand mixer with the paddle attachment. Cream until smooth.

Add the powdered sugar a little at a time until fully mixed it, scrape down the sides.

Add the heavy cream and vanilla, and stir it in. Place on medium-high speed and whip for 3 minutes until light and fluffy.

TIPS FOR MAKING PERFECT COPYCAT CRUMBL GOLDEN OREO COOKIES

The dough is very sticky and it must be chilled overnight to get the correct cookie consistency. DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP!

To make these even more over the top, you can fold in larger chunks of the cookies into the dough! Or even add some white chocolate chips.

Since the cookies have cream cheese frosting, they do need to be refrigerated but they are best eaten at room temperature. Set the cookies out about 20-30 minutes before serving to bring them to room temperature.

Can I make these cookies smaller?

Crumb is known for large cookies, but you can definitely make these smaller! Often, I’ll divide each of the 12 cookie dough balls in half and make 24 smaller cookies. If you make the cookies smaller, the cook time will be reduced, so just keep a close eye on the cookies while baking so that they don’t overcook!
