Theses blossom cookies are soft and chewy, with a slightly crisp exterior and sweet chocolatey center. The taste of chocolate kiss cookies is sweet, but not overly so, with a subtle vanilla and almond flavor that complements the candy center perfectly.

Ingredients for Easter Blossom Cookies

Butter: You will need ½ cup of butter, softened, to make the cookies rich and moist.

Sugar: Add in 1 cup of sugar to sweeten these cookies perfectly and give them a chewy texture.

Egg: Help bind the ingredients together by using 1 egg in the dough.

Vanilla extract: Use 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to enhance the incredible flavors in this recipe.

Almond extract: For even more great taste, add in 1 teaspoon of almond extract.

Flour: The structural base of this cookie recipe is 2 cups of flour.

Baking soda: You need ½ teaspoon of baking soda to help these cookies rise and puff up as they bake.

Salt: Balance the sweet flavors in this cookie by adding ½ teaspoon of salt.

Milk: Give the dough some moisture by using 1 tablespoon of milk.

Sanding sugar: Coat these tasty treats with pastel sanding sugar, pink, yellow, green, and blue. If you want to skip this step and use food coloring in the dough, that is an option too. Although the sanding sugar makes these cookies extra sweet & delicious.

Hershey Kisses: For the center of the blossom cookie, use 24 Hershey Hugs & Kisses, or any flavor you prefer.

How to make Blossom Easter Cookies

Prep

To begin, preheat the oven to 350°F. Then line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicon mat and set it aside.

Also, pour the different colored sanding sugars into small bowls and set them aside for a future step.

Dough

In a large mixing bowl using an electric mixer, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Next add in the egg and both extracts, beat until just combined. Continue to mix in the flour, baking soda, salt, and milk.

Once everything is combined, form about 1 tablespoon size balls of dough. Then roll each ball of dough into one of the sanding sugars and place it onto the prepared baking tray.

Bake

Proceed to place the cookies in the preheated oven and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the cookies are just set. You may need to bake the cookies in two batches.

Let the cookies cool for 2 minutes, then top each one with a Hershey Kiss, pressing it into the cookie slightly. Serve and enjoy!

How long are Easter Blossom Cookies good for?

Easter Blossom Cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. If you want to keep them fresh for longer, you can store them in the refrigerator for 7-10 days or freeze them for up to three months. When freezing, make sure to wrap them tightly in plastic wrap and place them in an airtight container or freezer bag.

Can you substitute the extract in Easter Blossom Cookies?

Yes! Simply replace the vanilla extract with any flavor extract you prefer. A fruit flavor extract would taste amazing, lemon, orange, or strawberry. Or if you can add in peppermint extract for a festive Christmas flavor. You really can’t go wrong with experimenting with different flavors in this simple cookie dough.
