<p>Palmiers, also known as Elephant Ears, are delicate French cookies that are crisp, buttery, and perfect with tea or hot chocolate. While you can even find them at Costco now, this easy two-ingredient recipe gives you the classic pastry in minutes&mdash;no complicated steps required. Enjoy them plain or dress them up with a chocolate drizzle. They&rsquo;re stunning on any holiday cookie tray!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><figure><img decoding="async" width="960" height="593" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3710" src="https://familycookierecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Easy-Palmiers-recipe.collage1.jpg" alt="How to make Easy Palmiers recipe" srcset="https://familycookierecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Easy-Palmiers-recipe.collage1.jpg 960w, https://familycookierecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Easy-Palmiers-recipe.collage1-300x185.jpg 300w, https://familycookierecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Easy-Palmiers-recipe.collage1-768x474.jpg 768w, https://familycookierecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Easy-Palmiers-recipe.collage1-610x377.jpg 610w" sizes="(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" data-pin-media="https://familycookierecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Easy-Palmiers-recipe.collage1.jpg"></figure></h2>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Puff Pastry Palmiers Ingredients</h2>

<p><strong>Puff pastry:</strong> Use one 17.3-oz box of frozen puff pastry. Each box contains two sheets, and each sheet makes about 15 Palmiers, depending on how thin you slice them.</p>

<p><strong>Sugar:</strong> You&rsquo;ll use quite a bit of white sugar to coat the pastry, which is what gives Palmiers their signature caramelized crunch. You&rsquo;ll have leftovers&mdash;feel free to reuse it if you&rsquo;re comfortable (we do!).</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><figure><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="960" height="761" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3709" src="https://familycookierecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Easy-Palmiers-recipe.collage2.jpg" alt="Easy Palmiers recipe" srcset="https://familycookierecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Easy-Palmiers-recipe.collage2.jpg 960w, https://familycookierecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Easy-Palmiers-recipe.collage2-300x238.jpg 300w, https://familycookierecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Easy-Palmiers-recipe.collage2-768x609.jpg 768w, https://familycookierecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Easy-Palmiers-recipe.collage2-610x484.jpg 610w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" data-pin-media="https://familycookierecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Easy-Palmiers-recipe.collage2.jpg"></figure>Helpful tips for making perfect Palmiers</h2>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Keep the pastry cold.</strong> Warm puff pastry gets sticky and won&rsquo;t puff as well, so work quickly and chill the dough for a few minutes if it softens.</li>

<li><strong>Use plenty of sugar.</strong> The extra sugar helps create the signature caramelized, crispy edges&mdash;don&rsquo;t be shy when coating the pastry.</li>

<li><strong>Space them well.</strong> Palmiers spread as they bake, so leave room on the baking sheet to prevent them from sticking together.</li>
</ul>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="960" height="1440" src="https://familycookierecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Palmiers-Pastry-recipe.15.jpg" alt="Easy Palmiers recipe" class="wp-image-3717" srcset="https://familycookierecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Palmiers-Pastry-recipe.15.jpg 960w, https://familycookierecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Palmiers-Pastry-recipe.15-200x300.jpg 200w, https://familycookierecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Palmiers-Pastry-recipe.15-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://familycookierecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Palmiers-Pastry-recipe.15-768x1152.jpg 768w, https://familycookierecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Palmiers-Pastry-recipe.15-610x915.jpg 610w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" data-pin-media="https://familycookierecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Palmiers-Pastry-recipe.15.jpg"></figure>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How long are these good for &amp; how should I store them?</h2>

<p>Palmiers stay fresh for up to 5 days when stored in an airtight container at room temperature.<br>Keep them in a cool, dry place to maintain their crisp texture&mdash;moisture will make them soft.</p>

<p>If they lose some crunch, you can re-crisp them in a 350&deg;F oven for 3&ndash;4 minutes.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Can you freeze Palmiers?</h2>

<p>You can freeze leftover Palmiers after they have cooled down completely from baking. You will want to thaw them and re-crisp them before serving. You may notice that the sugar coating has dissolved, in which case you may wish to add a sprinkling of sugar to these pastries before eating.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Simple Variation for Palmiers to try! </h2>

<p>If you&rsquo;re craving a cinnamon twist, simply mix 2&ndash;3 teaspoons of cinnamon into the sugar before coating the pastry. It adds warm flavor and gives you the best of both worlds.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Can you reheat Palmiers?</h2>

<p>There&rsquo;s no denying that once you try this delicious pastry warm and fresh you&rsquo;re going to want to eat it that way often, so reheating is a great way to bring back that taste, smell and feel. Reheating is also a great way to bring the crispness back to the pastry after freezing. Place your Palmiers on a baking sheet and bake at 325 degrees F for 10 minutes until a golden brown. Enjoy!</p>

<p>Puff pastry is a delicate creature and one that requires care when storing to prevent it from getting soggy. Fresh pastries should be cooled to room temperature before being wrapped and sealed away to prevent condensation from forming and making the treat soggy. You can also choose to place the pastry in brown paper bags for storage on the counter to help retain the crispness.</p>
