Plus, They have just the right amount of sweetness, achieved with powdered sugar and a hint of condensed milk. The result? A divine combination that will leave you craving for more.

Tips & Tricks for making delightful Flower Cookies

By following a few simple rules of thumb, you can have a batch of beautiful and delicious cookies every time!

Do not overmix. When adding the corn starch and flour, it’s important to mix until just combined. Overmixing can result in a tougher texture in the cookies.

High quality food coloring. Use gel food color for a more vibrant and consistent result. Start with a few drops and adjust according to your desired color intensity.

Uniform size. When forming the small balls of dough, try to make them as equal in size as possible. This will ensure even baking and consistent shapes for the flower cookies.

Use parchment paper. Before pressing the dough balls to form the flower petals, place a parchment paper on top to prevent sticking and maintain the shape.

Tools. To create more defined impressions on the flower petals, use a wooden skewer or the back of a small spoon to gently press down. Be careful not to press too hard, as it may flatten the cookies too much.

Chill dough. Refrigerating the dough at two different stages (after coloring and after forming the cookies) is essential for maintaining the shape and preventing spreading during baking.

Bake time. Keep an eye on the baking time, as oven temperatures can vary. The cookies should be baked just until set. Overbaking can result in dry, cracked cookies, while underbaking can leave them soft and undercooked.

How to make Pink Daisy Cookies

Prep

Begin by lining two baking trays with parchment paper; set them aside.

Cookie dough

Next, in a bowl of a stand mixer (you can also use a hand mixer), add in the butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat at medium-high speed until everything is combined and the mixture turns creamy.

Then add in the condensed milk and beat again until fully mixed.

After that, add in the cornstarch and gently mix just until it’s well incorporated.

Start adding the flour in batches and mix until it forms a smooth dough. You may need to knead it by hand to make it smooth.

Proceed to divide the dough into two equal parts. Then add a few drops of pink gel food color to one half of the dough and mix well until the color is evenly distributed.

Chill

Continue to wrap each large piece of dough in plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to chill.

Shape

Take the chilled dough out of the fridge and roll into small balls, each weighing approximately 4 grams (about 1 tsp).

Begin by arranging 5 small pink dough balls to form a circle, creating the flower petals. Place a parchment paper on top of the circle and gently press the dough with a glass or spatula to flatten them slightly. Then use a wooden skewer to make some impressions on the flower petals.

Take a small ball of uncolored dough and place it in the center of the flower for an eye-catching look. Place the flower form on the prepared baking sheets lined with parchment paper.

After that, refrigerate the formed cookies again for at least 30 minutes.

Bake

Around the 20-minute mark, get the oven preheating to 325°F/160 C.

Then remove the cookies from the fridge and place them in the preheated oven to bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges turn slightly golden.

Be sure to let the cookies cool for 5 minutes on the baking tray before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Serve and enjoy!

How to store Blooming Sugar Cookies?

When it comes to storing cookies, there are a few things to keep in mind to ensure they stay fresh and delicious for as long as possible. Here are some tips for storing your cookies:

Room Temperature: If you plan on eating your cookies within a few days, storing them at room temperature is perfectly fine. Just make sure to keep them in an airtight container to prevent them from becoming stale or dry.

Freezer: If you want to keep your cookies for an extended period of time, freezing them is the best option. Make sure to wrap them tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil and place them in an airtight container or freezer bag. When you’re ready to eat them, simply thaw them at room temperature for a few hours.

Avoid Moisture: Moisture is the enemy of cookies, so make sure to keep them away from any sources of moisture. This includes storing them in a dry place, away from any fruits or vegetables that might release moisture.

What is the best way to soften butter?

A quick and easy way to soften your butter is warm a tall drinking glass in the microwave for 45-60 seconds. Then, place the wrapped stick of butter in the cup and turn it over on the counter. Leave it that way for a few minutes. Another simple trick is to pull the butter out an hour before you are going to start baking, that is a sure fire way to soften it up without any effort at all!

Do I have to chill the cookie dough?

When recipes request that you chill your cookie dough it is usually for a good reason. That reason is that the flavor gets a bit more time to develop and the cookies taste even more incredible. But the biggest reason is because of the butter/fats in the dough. By chilling the dough we allow the fats to solidify which means your cookies will not spread out as much while baking, so the texture turns out perfectly. This is especially important on warmer days or when your butter is warm or softened.
