Instructions
In a large bowl, mix the Butter and Sugar until creamed, and light and fluffy.
Add the Egg, Vanilla, and stir until well mixed.
Add the Flour a little at a time, mixing between additions.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface, to about a 1/4 inch thick, and using the light bulb cookie cutter, cut out the cookies.
Bake the Cookies
Place the cut out Cookies on a Parchment lined Cookie sheet, and bake at 350 degrees for 15-18 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool on a wire rack.
When the Cookies are cool, make the Icing colors to decorate:
Mix 2 cups of Powdered Sugar and 1/4 cup of Milk, plus 3 Tablespoons of Meringue Powder in a bowl, and set aside.
Color the Frosting
Set aside 13 Piping Bags. Divide the frosting into 13 small bowls and color each batch the color of bulb you would like.
Make sure you color the 12th bowl black for the tip of each bulb.
Fill each piping bag with each color and set aside.
Frost the Cookies
Take one cookie and pipe around the edge of the cookie and then flood or fill in the solid color portion of the light bulb, do not place color on the tip, that area will be piped using black icing.
After you have iced each bulb, take the black icing and trace around the edge and gently flood that small end section of each cookie.
Let that dry for around 15 minutes and then come over the solid black color and make 3 lines in a zigzag pattern, so that it looks like the part of the bulb you screw into a socket!
Next take a piping bag filled with white icing and make 2 small lines on each end of the bulb part of the cookie to make it look like a light reflection. Enjoy!
