HEALTHY HOMEMADE DOG COOKIES

– 1 cup oats  – 1 cup unbleached all-purpose flour  – 1 teaspoon baking powder – ¼ cup shredded apple – ¼ cup shredded carrot – ½ cup creamy peanut butter Should NOT contain Xylitol as it can cause toxicity in dogs – ¼ cup milk  – 1 egg

- In a food processor, or blender shred the oats. Pulse for 4 to 5 times until the oats are broken down into smaller pieces but not quite flour. Shred the carrot and apple for the allotted amount needed for recipe. - In a large mixing bowl combine flour, oats, baking soda, shredded carrot, and shredded apple. Mix until the carrots and apples are coated with the flour/oat mixture.

In a bowl of a stand-up mixer, add peanut butter, milk, egg, and the flour mixture. Mix until you have a thick dough.

Use your favorite cookie-cutter and cut the cookies. I used a bone 1 ½ inch from Wilton and a star (1 inch) shape cookie cutter. You can use any cutters you have. If you don’t have any cutters, you can cut strips and break them to the desired length.

Place the cut treats onto the prepared cookie sheet Bake in the preheated oven for 5 minutes. Flip the cookies and cook for an additional 3 to 4 minutes Cool completely on a cooling rack
