Prep: Start by lining two baking sheets with parchment paper and set them aside. Preheat the oven to 330°.
Dough : In a medium size mixing bowl, whisk the flour, baking soda, and salt and set it aside.
Use a stand mixer or an electric hand mixer to cream the butter, brown sugar, and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
Add in the flour mixture to the butter mixture. Mix to combine. Dough will be thick, but mix for a couple minutes and it comes together well.
Fold in the 12-oz of chocolate chips.
Bake: Use a 2 tablespoon cookie scoop (medium) to portion the dough into balls. Round dough with your hands, then place on prepared baking sheet. Top with remaining chocolate chips.
Bake 12-14 minutes. Allow the cookies to rest for 1 minute then transfer to a cooling rack. Serve slightly warm and enjoy!
Notes
Store leftover cookies in an airtight container on the countertop for up to 5 days. You can replace the lard with an additional 5 TBSP butter. Also add in 2 TBSP milk.
