Sour Cream Sugar Cookies are classic cookies with sour cream for a perfectly soft texture. Soft cut-out sugar cookies with pillowy frosting and sprinkles perfect for any occasion!
To make the cookie dough, cream together the sugar and the soft butter.
Add in the egg and the vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, combine the sour cream, salt, and baking soda.
Add the flour and the sour cream mixture to the butter mixture, beating until smooth.
Chill the dough for several hours before rolling out and cutting with shaped cutters.
Place on a baking sheet and bake at 375F degrees for 10 minutes, being careful not to overbake.
After the cookies have finished cooling down, decorate them however you want.
How to make cookie frosting
In a mixing bowl, beat the butter until it's smooth.
Slowly add in and beat the other ingredients until the frosting is smooth. This should take about 2 minutes.
Add in any additional milk if a thinner consistency is needed.
Spread the frosting on the cookies using a knife, and then top with sprinkles if desired. This frosting can also be piped onto the cookies using a frosting bag.
