This recipe may just be the thing to switch up the Nutella uses in your life, especially if you find yourself only eating ripe bananas with it. I know I’m not the only ones because for a while there, I think my kids thought we could only eat bananas with Nutella!
What are Nutella mousse cookies?
They’re an easy chocolate chip cookie cup made using a simple cookie dough recipe in a mini muffin pan. Once cooled, the cookie cups are then filled with a homemade Nutella mousse which is only 3 ingredients and super easy to make. The flavors combine and taste incredible so I urge you to try and administer some sort of restraint because if you’re like me you may find yourself sneaking cookies at breakfast because they’re simply irresistible.
Nutella Mousse Cups Ingredients
For the Cookie Cups, You Will Need:
-Butter: Adding 1/2 cup (one stick) of butter to the dough will make it richer in taste.
-Crisco: You’ll want to use ½ cup of butter flavored Crisco to get a good texture out of our cookie cups.
-Sugars: Using ¾ cups each of granulated sugar and brown sugar, your cookies will be sweet and chewy.
-Eggs: You will need 2 eggs to help bind together the cookie dough well.
-Flour: The base of our cookie dough is 2 ½ cups of all-purpose flour.
-Leavening agents: To make our cookies puff up and rise properly we need 2 teaspoons of baking soda and ½ teaspoon of baking powder.
-Salt: Adding 1 teaspoon of salt to the batter will help to enhance the natural flavors in our cookies.
-Chocolate chips: You will need 1 ¼ cups of mini chocolate chips so that every cookie cup has a great amount of chocolate flavor in every bite.
For the Nutella Mousse, You Will Need:
-Nutella: You will need ½ cup of Nutella so that the mousse filling has a great flavor.
-Whipping cream: Adding 1 ½ cups of heavy whipping cream will give us a lighter and more airy texture which is what you want in a good mousse.
-Powdered sugar: To make the mousse nice and sweet use ¼ cup of powdered sugar.
How to make Nutella mousse cookie cups
To make cookie cups:
Preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fand spray a mini muffin pan well with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and Crisco with an electric mixer.
Add in the sugars and eggs and mix again.
Add in ½ of the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
Add in the remaining flour and mix until combined.
Stir in your mini chocolate chips.
Scoop out and round the dough in 1 ½ tablespoon-sized balls. I use this cookie scoop here.
Press each dough ball into a mini muffin cup and then bake for 15 minutes. Let them cool in the pan for 5 minutes and press a tablespoon into each cookie to make a well in the center.
Let the cookies cool completely before removing them from the pan.
Place a metal mixing bowl into the freezer while the cookies are cooling to speed up the mousse-making process.
Carefully remove your cooled cookies from the pan and let them sit on a wire rack until filled and ready to eat.
To Make Mousse:
Pour your whipping cream into the chilled metal bowl and add in the powdered sugar.
Use an electric mixer to mix on medium-high speed for about 5 minutes or until the cream holds a stiff peak.
Spoon the Nutella into the whipped cream ad mix again until the Nutella is incorporated. Do not over mix.
Scrape down the sides of the bowl and transfer the mixture to a sandwich bag with the corner snipped.
Fill each cookie cup with the Nutella filling. Then place about 2 tablespoons of Nutella into a sandwich bag and snip the corner of the bag. Drizzle over the tops of the cookies before serving. Enjoy!
When is World Nutella Day?
World Nutella day is a fun holiday that happens in February. on February 5th every year recipe blogs, websites, and places dedicated to food may show off their best and favorite Nutella products and recipes. While this may not be a traditional holiday like Easter or Christmas, it is still a fun one to celebrate and acknowledge, especially when you enjoy Nutella as much as we do!
How long are Nutella cookie cups good for?
These cookies can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. While these cookies taste amazing the first day, they also taste great a few days later. They become softer and chewier and are still so good!

This is my baby! Isn’t he a cutie? He’s not so little anymore, but every once in awhile I find him doing something so clearly imaginative that only kids do, and I just LOVE it. It’s hard to be a kid when you are constantly trying to catch up to your older brothers! I just adore it when he goes off by himself and just PLAYS. I asked him if he needed any help, to which he replied, “No, Mom, I’ve got this. Need anything else fixed?” Ha! {Note the cute plastic drill!}
