The brightly colored M&Ms will grab your eyes, but the chewy chocolate cookies will grab your heart.
What are triple chocolate cookies?
This is the term given to cookies when they have at least three types of chocolate involved. Usually starting with a chocolate cookie dough base and then adding multiple forms of chocolate pieces. For example, with this recipe, we have a chocolate cookie dough base, chocolate chips, and chocolate-coated M&Ms.
Ingredients for M & M Cookies
-Butter: You will need ½ cup of softened butter (one stick) to help make the dough taste richer.
-Sugars: Using ⅔ cup of brown sugar and ¼ cup of granulated sugar we can get a sweet cookie with perfect edges and chewy texture.
-Vanilla: Adding a teaspoon of vanilla into the mix will help to enhance the flavors nicely.
-Egg: You will need 1 egg to help bind the dough together well.
-Cocoa powder: To get a stronger chocolate flavor we need 2 tablespoons of baking cocoa in the dough.
-Chocolate pudding: Adding a 3.9-ounce box of dry instant chocolate pudding mix will help to add moisture, flavor, chocolatey goodness, and a wonderful chewy texture to every cookie bite!
-Water: We need 1 tablespoon of water to help get the dough to the perfect consistency.
-Flour: You will need 1 cup of all-purpose flour for the base of this cookie dough.
-Baking soda: This is our leavening agent. Using ½ teaspoon of baking soda will help our cookies to puff up nicely as they bake.
-Chocolate chips: We want to use 1 ½ cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips (but you can use other varieties if you prefer).
-M&Ms: Our cookies need some added M&Ms so 1 ½ cups will be a perfect amount to make sure every cookie gets some colorful candy pieces.
How to Chocolate M&M Cookies
Mix together the butter and both sugars using an electric mixer in a large mixing bowl or in the bowl of a stand mixer.
Add in the vanilla and egg. Mix until just combined.
Add in the cocoa powder and chocolate pudding and mix again.
Next, mix in the water, flour, and baking soda until just combined.
Stir in 1 cup of chocolate chips and 1 cup of M&Ms with a wooden spoon.
Line or greased baking sheets and then scoop the dough and place it on the sheet in balls about 1 ½ tablespoon in size.
Top the cookies with the remaining chocolate chips and M&Ms.
Place the baking sheets in the oven for 1-2 hours.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and bake your chilled cookies for 10-12 minutes. You want the cookies to stay soft and fudgy so do not overbake.
Let the cookies cool on the sheet for 5 minutes before removing them to a cooling rack. Enjoy!
