Brownie Crinkle Cookies are rich, fudgy cookies that are rolled in powdered sugar. Made with a brownie mix, this delicious brownie cookie recipe is so easy to make!
WHAT ARE BROWNIE CRINKLE COOKIES?
Brownie Crinkle Cookies are made with a brownie mix and a few other basic ingredients. To achieve the crinkle effect, the cookie dough is rolled into balls and then rolled in powdered sugar before being baked in the oven. The powdered sugar helps to show off the lines created as the cookie expands and thus, the crinkle appearance. A delicious cookie recipe that tastes just like brownies!
Ingredients in Brownie Crinkle Cookies
Fudge brownie mix – You will need one box of fudge brownie mix. Make sure that the mix is made for a 9X13 pan.
Flour – A cup of flour will help to make the cookie dough thicker so that you can turn it into cookies.
Egg – One large egg will bind everything together.
Water – A half cup of water will provide most of the liquid for the cookies.
Oil – You only need 1/4 cup of oil for the cookies. You can use vegetable or canola oil, but I like to use coconut oil. If you do use coconut oil, make sure it is melted before adding to the batter.
Semisweet chocolate chips – Adding chocolate chips to the cookie dough doubles the chocolate flavor of the cookies. You can leave them out or use a different variety of chocolate if you’d like.
Powdered sugar – You will only need a little bit of powdered sugar (1/4-1/2 cup) to roll the balls of cookie dough in before you bake them.
How to make Brownie Crinkle Cookies
Preheat oven to 350°.
In a large bowl, combine brownie mix, flour, egg, water, and oil. Mix well. Stir in chocolate chips. Use a tablespoon-sized cookie scoop to scoop the dough and use your hands to roll into balls.
Place about ½ cup powdered sugar on a plate or in a shallow bowl. Drop the rolled balls of dough into the powdered sugar and roll to coat completely.
Place the balls of cookie dough about 2 inches apart on a cookie sheet that is lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
Cook for 8-10 minutes or until the centers are set. Don’t overbake! Let the cookies cool for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
HOW LONG ARE BROWNIE CRINKLE COOKIES GOOD FOR?
These cookies can stay fresh in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days. After the cookies have been baked, let them cool completely before storing them in an airtight container. Any warmth from the cookies will cause condensation in the container which will cause the powdered sugar to dissolve.
CAN I FREEZE CRINKLE COOKIES?
Yes, you can freeze these cookies! After they have cooled completely store them in an airtight container with a piece of parchment paper between the layers of cookies and freeze for up to 3 months. If after thawing the cookies no longer look crinkly, roll them in powdered sugar again before serving.
