It gets its name from combining the names”brownie” and “cookie.” They’re a much more festive upgrade from the basic treats and gives you the best of both worlds in every tasty bite. Once you know how to make brookies, you may not want to stop. They’re perfect for every occasion!
Brookie ingredients
For the brownies, you will need:
-Butter: We want 1/2 cup (one stick) of melted butter to help our brownies taste rich and delicious.
-Sugar: 3/4 cup of granulated sugar will give our brownies enough sweetness and help them to crisp around the edges.
-Cocoa: To get a good and rich chocolate flavor in every bite we want 1/2 cup of cocoa powder.
-Eggs: 2 eggs will help to bind the brownie batter together and give us a more fudgy texture.
-Vanilla: Adding 1 teaspoon of vanilla will help to enhance flavors, use stronger vanilla for better flavor results.
-Flour: 1 cup of all-purpose flour is the base of this brownie batter dough.
-Salt: Salt is a flavor enhancer so using 1/2 teaspoon of salt will help these brownies taste great.
For the chocolate chip cookies, you will need:
-Butter: We want 1/2 cup (one stick) of softened butter to help our cookies taste rich and have enough fat to remain moist.
-Sugars: Using a combination of 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup granulated sugar our cookies will be sweet, moist, and have great edges.
-Egg: 1 egg will act as the binder for the cookie dough/
-Vanilla: 1 teaspoon of vanilla will help to enhance the flavors.
-Flour: We want 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour for the gluten-filled base of this cookie dough.
-Baking soda: 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda will help the cookies puff up as they bake.
-Salt: To enhance the cookie dough flavor we want 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
-Chocolate chips: 1 cup of chocolate chips will add that melted chocolate look and taste we’re wanting.
How to Make Brookies
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Line 2 large baking sheets with parchment paper and set them aside.
Make the brownie cookie dough by melting together the butter, sugar, and cocoa powder in a large mixing bowl. Mix until it becomes smooth.
Add in the eggs, one at a time, mixing between each.
Add in the vanilla extract and mix until glossy.
Mix in the flour and salt, but do not over mix. Place in fridge while making the cookie dough.
Make the cookie dough by beating together the butter and sugars in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
Add in the egg and vanilla, beat again.
In another bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, and salt.
Mix the dry ingredients into the butter and egg mixture, a little at a time.
Fold in the chocolate chips and place in the fridge for at least 1 hour.
Once both doughs are made and chilled, use an ice cream scoop to scoop out mini balls of dough from each dough.
Roll the two together with your hands and give it a round shape.
Repeat with the remaining dough.
Place the cookies on your prepared baking sheets.
Bake for 15-18 minutes or until the edges are a golden color.
Allow to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy!
